HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Odeda Local Government has its headquarter at Odeda, a place situated along Abeokuta- Ibadan Road, which is about 10 kilomitres from Abeokuta (the State Capital). The Agura of Gbagura is the only state recognised Oba in the Local Government area. It has an extensive landmass mostly grass.The vegetation of the Local Government is mainly Orchard and of thick grasses.Thus, the land is suitable for agriculture and livestock rearing

BOUNDARIES
The Local Government shares bonudaries with Ibarapa and Iddo Local Government of Oyo State in the north and east, while Obafemi/ Owode Local Government to the south and west respectively.
CLIMATE
The Local Government enjoys a tropical climate, with double maxima of rainfall between April and july {short dry season in August} and from Sepmber to Octomber. The long dry season start from NovemberThus, the land is suitabel for agricultuer and livestock rearing.
MAJOR RIVERS
The major rivers in the area Asag and Otere streams
PEOPLE
The people are predominantly Egbas and they speak Egba dialect. However, their main language is yoruba while a few non-yoruba are Fulani, Hausa, Igedes of Benue State and Ito.
ADMINISTRATIVE/POLITICAL DIVISIONS
The Local Government is made up of three Zones These are:

Odeda Zone: Odeda, Osiele, Oluga, Olugbo, Baale Ogun and Eweje FarmSettelments.

llugun Zone: llugun, Olodo, Okiri- Ojule, Apesin, Akonko, Olokemeji and Kugbajagbe.

Opeji Zone: Obantoko, Adao, Alabata, Opeji and Obete.

Due to the followings, The council has opportunities for economic development:
¨ Vast land for agricuture for both perennial and arable farming.
¨ Due to the nature of vegetation, there is also propensity for animal rearing, poutry farming and agro- based indutries.
¨ Due to emormous deposit of granite, there is a great opportuinty for the siting of quarry industries.
